Miura Golf Unveils Passing Point 9003 Forged Irons Video

Miura Golf is relying on new-world communications techniques to show off its old-world-quality craftsmanship. The company released a new video to spread the word about its new Passing Point 9003 forged irons.

The video is available on Miura's website at www.miuragolf.com and a direct link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rm_d2VZa9c

"In deciding how to convey the Passing Point philosophy and the beauty of this new iron, we kept coming back to the idea of movement," said Adam Barr, president of Miura Golf. "The way the lines of the club work together, it's downright artistic. Mr. Miura and his sons, Yoshitaka and Shinei, think of forged golf clubs as active machines, best observed and learned about in terms of their motion. So a video made sense, especially in this age of Internet-driven communication."

The video presents the 9003's key benefits and attractive features. It was written, produced and hosted by Barr, who drew on his 12-plus years of experience at the Golf Channel to bring the feature together.

"I know it's not typical for company executives to get into the video production details," Barr admitted. "But then, Miura is not a typical company, which is something we're proud of. Our founder, Mr. Miura, is down at the grinding wheel in the factory every day, applying his art and experience to the forged clubs he is so proud of. And he is handing down that knowledge to his sons and their employees in our factory in Himeji, Japan.

"So Miura is really all about getting it done for the golfer who appreciates the best -- no matter what it might say on our individual business cards."

Proven counterweighted technology improves stability, consistency, control

(RIDGEFIELD, CT) - Leading independent club manufacturer Boccieri Golf announces the expansion of its award-winning, Tour-proven Heavy Putter line to include the innovative Bronze and Tour Series collections, which are now available at select retailers and online at www.boccierigolf.com.

A premium CNC milled offering in a bright silver PVD finish, the Tour Series is available in a traditional offset blade (Q2-MT) and new half-mallet (R3-MT). Retailing for $199.99, the putters offer all the feel and feedback associated with high-end millings at an affordable price.

TaylorMade Unveils Foul Pole Design at PETCO Park

TaylorMade Golf Raises the Bar for Ballpark Marketing by Unveiling Nine-StoryTall R11 Driver Foul Pole in Right Field; Every Padres Homerun to Benefit SD-Based Charity

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) — TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company and the San Diego Padres today unveiled an 80-foot tall R11 driver foul pole in right field at PETCO Park as part of an innovative partnership agreement to extend through the 2013 season.

Already the number one driver brand on the PGA Tour, TaylorMade’s game-changing new white R11 driver will now rule at PETCO Park – standing nearly nine stories tall (80 feet) – as it makes its season debut tonight. Specially designed by TaylorMade’s in-house design team, the R11 structure is affixed to the current foul pole and is considered “fair territory” by the PETCO Park and Major League Baseball ground rules.

“The launch of the R11 driver has become larger than life for our industry, so we wanted to continue the momentum with a larger than life integration with the San Diego Padres,” said Mark King, president and CEO of TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company.  “This idea captures the magnitude of what has been the most historic driver launch in the golf industry. We hope the site of the world’s largest R11 driver here at PETCO Park will be a compelling reminder of TaylorMade innovation.”

“TaylorMade is a leading national brand – a thought leader based right here in San Diego,” said Padres Vice Chairman & CEO Jeff Moorad. “The Padres are proud to partner with yet another strong local company and we are excited to showcase its presence at PETCO Park in such an innovative way.”

About the Construction
The R11 foul pole structure is the first of its kind in Major League Baseball. The design and construction required significant collaboration between various groups to bring to life the authenticity of the R11 driver. Weighing 950 pounds, the 80-foot all-aluminum structure runs parallel with the existing foul pole structure, while the 14-foot wide by 8-foot tall image of the R11 clubhead is positioned on the fence in the corner of right field. The weather- and impact-resistant grip was custom rolled out of .90” aluminum, welded into a taper shaping and then given a vehicle, textured, bed lining coating to give it a rubber look. The installation, which began Monday morning and was finished Wednesday, required a total 250 man hours to complete. Click image below to view time lapse footage of the installation of the structure.

Each “Drive” Out of the Park to Benefit San Diego-Based Charity
The R11 driver foul pole also  also symbolizes TaylorMade’s support of a “Solutions for Change,” a 501c3 organization in North County San Diego committed to eliminating family homelessness in the county. TaylorMade will donate $600 to Solutions for Change for every “drive” a Padres player sends over the left, center or right field fence for a homerun.  Learn more about Solutions for Change.
Introduced earlier this year, the TaylorMade R11 driver is the No.1 played driver on the PGA Tour so far in 2011. The R11’s distinctive combination of white crown and black clubface makes it significantly easier to aim and dramatically reducing  glare, while its 3D tuning technologies allows players to independently tune loft, face angle and flight path to maximize distance and accuracy.  Learn more about the R11.

To help unveil the foul pole, TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Natalie Gulbis will be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of tonight’s Padres-Philadelphia Phillies game.

Featherweight Champion Gets a Belt

(Missoula, Montana) – New for 2011, Sun Mountain is adding the hip belt from the popular Zero-G golf bag to the Swift X, the company’s lightest full-size bag, and calling the new bag the Swift ZG.

Swift ZG is carried like a traditional dual strap bag with the addition of a belt that is naturally positioned at the hip and simply closed with an adjustable Velcro strap. The hip belt on the Swift ZG allows the bag to feel nearly weightless by transferring the majority of the weight off of the shoulders which results in a more upright posture and reduced upper body fatigue.

Swift ZG is in stores now with a full-suggested retail of $199. For the retailer nearest you, call 800-227-9224 or visit www.sunmountain.com.

Research shows that transferring carried weight from the upper body to the lower body disperses that weight throughout the entire body allowing one to walk with a more upright posture. It stands to reason that lightening the load on the neck and shoulder muscles and transferring this load to the larger muscles of the lower body can in fact improve one’s game.

“We have had other strap systems that transfer weight from the shoulders to the waist,” explains Sun Mountain President, Ed Kowachek. “The advantage of the hip belt on the Swift ZG is that it’s one size fits all.”

The belt on the Swift ZG is a one-size-fits-all padded strap that threads between the bag and the hip pad, adjusts simply from 28”- 48” and then holds tight with a Velcro closure. As an added bonus the belt holds the bag securely against the golfer’s body and keeps the bag from twisting or bouncing.

The featherweight line of Swift bags accommodate a full set of clubs with a 8.5”, 2-way top while offering five pockets to include a full-length clothing pocket, velour-lined valuables pocket, ball pocket and water bottle pouch.

Sun Mountain incorporated many recent advancements into the Swift line of bags to include the integrated list assist handle, top-molded stand attachment for increased stability and durability, as well as the patented Roller Bottom leg mechanism for easy activation.

The Men’s Swift ZG and Swift X come standard with Sun Mountain’s exclusive X-Strap Dual Strap System offering a balanced, comfortable carry with an easy on, easy off design. The Swift line also includes a Junior’s and Women’s model which come standard with the easy to adjust, E-Z Fit Dual Strap System.

Galvin Green stretches the boundaries of comfort and performance through the use of trail-blazing design and fabrics

(TORONTO, ON) – Galvin Green is stretching the limits of product development with the introduction of its 2011 summer and fall collections.

Designed by golfers for serious golfers, the 2011 collection offers an outstanding combination of new, advanced fabrics and finely-tuned colours that takes golf clothing to a whole different level. The pinnacle of the new collections is the Limited Edition range – stylish and functional golfing garments that transcend traditional rainwear and jackets intended to perform in the most extreme conditions.

The new collections for men, ladies and juniors also demonstrate the extent to which Galvin Green has brought its Multi- Layer Concept to life – with the new improved GORE-TEX stretch fabric as a prime illustration. Following years of development work, Galvin Green can now provide rainproof clothes with 25 percent more stretch. Not only do the different layers of hi-tech garments work together to help performance and comfort on the course, but now there are fashionable colour combinations to coordinate the golfing wardrobe as never before.

“Galvin Green is second to none when it comes to quality and style,” says St. George’s G&CC Head Professional Tim Moore. “With GORE-TEX as its backbone and Galvin Green’s layering system, golfers who wish to play during bad weather could ask for nothing more and it’s also great for the member who is traveling to Scotland and Ireland.”

The Limited Edition range boasts the most advanced items in the collection. One example is the stylish men’s jacket ACHILLES, which features a unique combination of three different GORE-TEX Paclite Shell fabrics. These ultra light fabrics make the jacket very flexible and easy to pack. The stretch function ensures optimal freedom of movement throughout the swing, and reinforcement patches on exposed areas to protect against wear and tear when golfers carry their bags. Limited Edition also includes, the BART, a soft shell jacket made of windproof GORE WINDSTOPPER fabric lined with a structure of air channels to provide a warming effect.

INSULA pullovers are the modern golf sweaters, both on and off the golf course. The fabric is composed of 90% polyester and 10% elastane, which makes it extremely hard wearing and easy to maintain. Unlike traditional sweaters, however, they don’t retain any moisture and offer a perfect layer option to be worn under a waterproof jacket if the weather is especially unfriendly.

Ventil8 makes use of carefully selected materials with very special properties as part of Galvin Green’s high-performance golf shirt line. A Ventil8 shirt transports moisture and excess heat away twice as quickly as a conventional polyester golf shirt. This is made possible by and advanced technology whereby the textile fibres are designed to disperse perspiration and moisture over a large area, allowing moisture to evaporate considerably more rapidly. To prevent bacteria build-up, the textile fibres have been injected with silver ions. A number of shirts in the Ventil8 collection are also designed with a sophisticated body-mapping system whereby exposed areas of the garment are equipped with material that provides exceptional ventilation and moisture-transportation properties.

Having introduced SKINTIGHT underwear to golfers more than five years ago, Galvin Green is taking golf Compression – or base layer – garments to a completely new level for the fall and into next winter with its new SKINTIGHT Compression 10° Body Mapping technology. Especially developed for golfers, critical areas of the body have been targeted to increase the warming effects on the upper back muscles that are used in the swing. But for greater comfort, flex points on the areas that need extra flexibility – like the arms and back of the legs – have less fabric to hinder movement, while a mesh fabric with extremely high breathability provides extra ventilation to the warm parts of the body.

Antigua Outerwear - Good for all climates and great for on and off the golf course

Motion

Antigua's fall based outerwear is created to function in various climates and incorporates the trend that focuses on layering. The current opinion is that as weather fluctuates throughout the day it is more desirable to take off-and-add on layers to adjust for comfort and function. Antigua has the options to meet this demand.

To demonstrate, the Antigua layering line-up start as base layers that can be combined with wind resistant or water resistant wind shirts and jackets as well as worn with fuller weight outerwear pieces to function against more inclement weather. Antigua has an excellent base layer long sleeve mock called 'Hero'. Hero uses Antigua's proprietary Desert Dry moisture management technology and is constructed with a hyper-micro poly fleeced backing against a super soft interlock face which has enough weight to be worn alone and is light enough that it layers remarkably well. Add to that the next tier in style - 'Succeed', consisting of a contemporary color block stretch jersey half zip shell with a micro fleece brushed back which can be worn on its own, under a jacket, over a base layer - or both depending on climate and preference.

To round out Antigua's outerwear collection offering, styles are developed to function according to climate needs. Antigua has a great wind shirt and wind jacket in styles 'Rendition' and 'Highland'. Antigua's Desert Breeze wind block fabric serves as a guard against wind while offering warmth. Made with a four-way stretch laminated jersey bonded to a water resistant membrane, Rendition and Highland both offer water resistance as well as comfort against the wind and rain. Rendition, styled with contemporary color blocking details, is available as a traditional pullover wind shirt while Highland is designed as a full zip front wind jacket. The stretch aspect of these pieces allows them to be multi functional - on the course and off.

Antigua has a variety of great golf jackets. 'Style Motion' is a full zip jacket constructed with a stretch jersey face bonded against a high-low fleeced 'wave' pattern engineered for warmth while allowing breathability for comfort. 'Style Explorer' is built for warmth while being light weight and ideal for layering. With its water resistant woven shell bonded against a micro-fleece inner core Explorer wears and travels well and is well suited for both cold and precipitation alike. Antigua equally offers thin-layer micro fleece shells in both pullover as well as full zip styling as exceptional layering options in styles 'Frost' and 'Sleet' as well as traditional fleece hooded styles in both a pullover as well as full front zip styling. So, no need to let weather concerns factor into your round as Antigua has the right outerwear to get you into the clubhouse warm, comfortable and dry.

Antigua outerwear selections for 2011 include: Atlas Jacket - 100% polyester water proof and fully seamed sealed jacket with contrast bonding details. Removable ball cleaner cloth snapped in wearers front pocket, adjustable velcro cuffs, toggle bungee bottom and hidden inside left chest pocket with Antigua branding. Men's and Women's Traverse - 100% Polyester jersey bonded with a water resistant membrane to a fleece inner layer as a full zip jacket with adjustable velcro cuffs, chest and side pockets with Antigua branding at back neck.

Men's and Women's Succeed - 84% polyester/16% spandex jersey fleece long sleeve pullover with 3/4 zip placket, and contrast inset detail at shoulder. Antigua branding on right sleeve.

Viper - 100% polyester Desert Dry moisture management fleeced jersey full zip jacket with contrast color insets with Antigua branding on the right sleeve.

Rendition - 100% polyester Desert Dry Xtra-lite with Desert Breeze interlock with a water resistant inner membrane as a long sleeve pull over wind shirt with contrast color insets and Antigua branding on right sleeve.

Highland - 100% polyester Desert Dry Xtra-lite with Desert Breeze interlock with a water resistant inner membrane as a long sleeve full zip wind jacket with contrast color insets and Antigua branding on right sleeve.

Adams Golf announces launch of Redline series of hybrid-iron sets

(PLANO, Texas) - Continuing a long tradition of delivering innovative club design, Adams Golf is proud to announce the launch of the new Redline series of industry-leading hybrid-iron sets. Adams Golf has combined their longest-hitting irons with their longest-hitting hybrids to create a customizable set that delivers maximum yardage. Designed with distance as the primary goal, consumers have the option of choosing which set configuration will best fit their game, including choosing whether to play one, two or three hybrids in combination with the long-hitting irons.

By combining a larger hybrid head, an ultra-thin steel face and longer shaft length, the Redline Super Hybrids deliver faster ball speeds and more distance than traditional hybrids. A tri-level sole design reduces turf interference for ease of play from the tee, fairway or rough and 45 grams of mass placed low and back improves forgiveness.

The Redline irons have been engineered to take the best attributes of hybrid design and applying them to the irons in order to increase distance. Mass placed low and back, combined with thin club face design, creates faster ball speeds and allows shots to fly straighter and longer with maximum forgiveness.

A more satisfying feel and sound comes from Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) inserts. Each iron in the Redline set has also been individually optimized to work together and outperform traditional irons. With progressive topline thickness and increased sole camber throughout, each iron is fully integrated with the next to maximize performance.

Since the Redline set configurations are customizable, the consumer can select the exact number of hybrids (3-, 4- and 5-hybrids are available) to best fit their game - all at no up-charge.

"As the leader in hybrid and hybrid-iron design, we are proud to introduce this new line that truly delivers more distance than any other product on the market," said Chip Brewer, President and CEO of Adams Golf. "We have clearly succeeded in applying new technologies to create a set that outperforms the competition. Giving consumers the ability to customize their set make-up even further enhances the performance capabilities of this innovative hybrid-iron set."

The eight-piece sets begin shipping to golf shops April 20 with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $899.99 for graphite and $799.99 for steel. The stock shaft for the Redline hybrids and the irons in the graphite set is the UST Mamiya ATTAS-T2 graphite shaft. For the steel set, the stock shaft for the irons is the Redline Performance 85. All Redline irons and hybrids are available in right- or left-handed models with shaft flexes of X, R, S or A.

Sweetgrass Readies for April 25 Golf Season Opener

Course Offers Spring Packages, New Conference Center

(Harris, Michigan) – Sweetgrass Golf Club (www.sweetgrassgolfclub.com) will welcome its first golfers of the season on April 25, as it prepares the course for the arrival of the LPGA Futures Tour this summer.

Early spring greens fees on the public championship course are $40 until May 31; play-and-stay packages start at $95 midweek, based on double occupancy. For the remainder of the season, greens fees will remain at $75, making it one of the most affordable rounds in the region.

“We’re encouraging golfers to play the course before the LPGA Futures Tour arrives in late June,” said Sweetgrass CEO Tom McChesney. “The nuances of the course make it a great challenge and a fun round from now through October.”

For those looking for longer stays and play on multiple courses, Sweetgrass will also offer its Perfect Foursome special again this year, which includes play at Sweetgrass and nearby Greywalls and Timberstone. Three-round, two-night packages start at $265, based on double occupancy, and include stays at the Island Resort Casino, with live entertainment, five restaurants and 24/7 gaming.

The package has been a very popular offering for traveling golfers. All three golf courses were named to Golfweek’s  Best Courses You Can Play listing, which named the Top 20 public golf courses in Michigan in early March.

Larger groups will also enjoy Sweetgrass’ new conference center and patio, which increases its function space to 17,400 square feet indoors, accommodating up to 800 people. The new construction makes it possible for golf buddy trips to have private dinners, pairing parties, or casual outdoor gatherings throughout the golf season.  The new conference center opens officially on May 1.

TaylorMade Introduces New Ghost Series Putters with PURE ROLL Technology

Re-Branded Corza Ghost and Four New Models Making Noise on Tour and Available Now at Retail

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) – Following the success of the original Corza Ghost, a "golf ball" white colored mallet which was used two to capture two wins on the PGA Tour in 2010, TaylorMade Golf is proud to introduce the all-new Ghost series putters. The new lineup consists of three models – TM-110 (blade style), TM-770 (mid -mallet) and the TM-880 (small-mallet) – each equipped with our PURE ROLL titallium face insert.

The new TaylorMade Ghost series putters were inspired by the immense Tour success achieved by the Corza Ghost and TM-110 Tour models in the past 12 months, as the products combined to win multiple events worldwide including twice on the PGA Tour. The Ghost TM-110 Tour, in particular, gained vast notoriety and adoption following TaylorMade-adidas Tour Staff professional Paula Creamer's victory at the 2010 U.S. Women's Open. All new Ghost series models were engineered under the advisement of PGA Tour coach and TaylorMade Tour Staff professional Dave Stockton.

"The new TaylorMade Ghost series brings the technology and science behind the white color and alignment cues from previous models to a wider audience then ever before," said Stockton. "I've never seen a series of putters that are so easy to aim."

The TaylorMade Ghost series has already experienced validation from the game’s elite in 2011. Just last week at Augusta National, 10 players used Ghost model putters, including TaylorMade-adidas Golf Tour Staff professional Jason Day, who tied for second using a new Ghost Spider prototype.

PURE ROLL Solves Common Problems with Putter Launch Performance
TaylorMade's patented PURE ROLL face inserts solve two common problems with standard putter launch performance. The first pertains to the loft of the putter face at impact. At impact, the loft of the putter face (typically 4°) lifts the ball off the ground and imparts backspin. When the ball lands, it skids and bounces before forward roll and constant ground contact begin. During this transition, from linear movement to rotational movement, the unpredictable nature of the skid phase of the putt can easily throw the ball off the intended line. Bouncing causes lateral deviation, which leads to missed putts.

Secondly, when effective loft is too low, the putter cannot sufficiently launch the ball cleanly from the depression it rests in on the green. The ball is driven forward or downward into the grass sitting immediately in front of the ball, causing the ball to bounce. Bounce steals momentum, so the ball rolls shorter than intended. Bounce can also cause the ball to deviate from the intended target line, especially if the ball should hit small imperfections on the green.

The composition and construction of the PURE ROLL insert is specially engineered to bring the grooves into direct and active contact with the ball during impact, even on short putts. The grooves in the face also serve in part to strategically soften the insert's structure. Together, these factors make the insert deform at impact, putting the grooves into direct contact with the cover of the ball.

In summation, PURE ROLL inserts help to reduce skidding, promoting precise line and optimum speed control. The result is a smoother roll and better overall performance on the greens.

Myrtle Beach's Mystical Golf Receives GOLF Magazine Acclaim

Man-O-War's 15th Hole Named in 'Most Memorable Island Greens,' The Witch Lauded as 'Best Bargain'

(MYRTLE BEACH, SC) - Mystical Golf - owner and operator of the award-winning The Witch, Man-O-War and The Wizard golf courses in Myrtle Beach - announces the 15th hole on Man-O-War, a dramatic par 3 of 173 yards, has been named as one of five "Most Memorable Island Greens" in the current issue of GOLF Magazine.

The new honor for Man-O-War follows The Witch recently named in GOLF as its "Best Bargain" in Myrtle Beach. Additionally, the Mystical Golf trio, designed by celebrated architect Dan Maples, are rated all from 4 to 4-1/2 stars from Golf Digest and are widely known as "must plays" when visiting the Grand Strand.

"The fifteenth on Man-O-War is part of our wonderfully unique back-to-back island greens along with the excellent par 4 fourteenth and both give you all the golf you want," says Claude Pardue, President and CEO. "As great as those two are, here at Mystical Golf, we like to say we have 27 signature holes as everyone who plays our three diverse courses has a different favorite."

Known as the perfect locale for "golf buddy trips" with its value-loaded stay-and-play packages, the accolades and rave reviews continue to mount for Mystical Golf, including:

• "One of the best deals in the country." - Golf Channel.com
• "A memorable golf experience." - The Green Magazine
• "Going strong and offering their customers a high level of conditioning and service." - Flagstick Magazine
• "The best deal in golf travel!" - Golf Vacations Magazine

The Witch sits on 500 acres of tranquil cypress groves and wetlands teeming with flora and fauna. Tactical play is rewarded on the par-71, 6,702-yard layout. With 4,000 feet of bridges wending through swamps (front nine) and rolling hills (back nine), golfers may spy cranes, bald eagles, alligators and black bears.

Man-O-War is revered for its back-to-back island greens and water features touching every hole. With a commanding 141 slope rating, the par-72, 6,967-yard layout is offset by straight-forward shots and excellent, bent-grass greens.

Reminiscent of classic, wind-swept links courses in Scotland and Ireland, The Wizard presents deep bunkers, mound-framed fairways and dramatic elevation changes. Trademark stone bridges and an Old-World, castle-style clubhouse add character to the par-72, 6,721-yard shot-maker's course.

Callaway, Top-Flite Products Honored By Golf Digest's Ball 'Hot List'

Callaway Tour i(s)/Tour i(z), HX Diablo Tour, HX Diablo and Top-Flite Gamer V2 win golds

(CARLSBAD, Calif.) - Callaway Golf Company and wholly owned subsidiary Top-Flite earned four Gold Medals in Golf Digest's 2011 Ball "Hot List." The Ball Hot List is a comprehensive evaluation of golf balls that combines input from scientists, manufacturers, robot testing and a panel of 25 single-digit handicappers.

Callaway distinguished itself with products earning a Gold Medal in all three categories: $20 and under (per dozen), $21-$30, and $40 and over. Top-Flite once again led the Innovation score with its Top-Flite Gamer franchise earning its fourth straight Gold Medal.

Callaway, which dominated the equipment Hot List released earlier this year by earning more Gold Medals than any other manufacturer, was again distinguished throughout this year's ball Hot List. Leading the way for Callaway was a Gold Medal for the Tour i(s)/Tour i(z) models, which have both been optimized for 2011.

Digest wrote of the 2011 Tour i Series balls, "Callaway's high moment-of-inertia (MOI), dual-core technology has proved to be a technological success."

Among the 29 balls evaluated by Golf Digest's robot testing, the Callaway Tour i(s) ball produced more RPMs of spin on half-wedge shots than any other ball, indicating its remarkable greenside control.

In the $20 and under category, Callaway and Top-Flite combined for two Gold Medals. Callaway's Gold was earned by the HX Diablo Ball, a soft, two-piece ball with a high-resiliency core that offers great feel and distance for a variety of swing speeds. In the ultra-competitive $21-$30 category, Callaway struck Gold with the new HX Diablo Tour ball, a three-piece model that earned five stars in both Performance and Innovation, and is turning heads at $26 per dozen.

For the fourth straight year, the Top-Flite Gamer franchise was distinguished with a Hot List Gold Medal in the $20 and under category. Of this year's Top-Flite Gamer V2, Golf Digest stated, "this ball's technology defies its price point," and added that it's "smarter and more versatile through the bag than any ball in its category."

Why A Performance Tee Is Crucial: Part 3

Choose Your Height

(Oakbrook Terrace, IL) - A challenge presents itself when you pull your driver from your bag, grab a golf tee from your pocket and then go to place the tee in the ground. The last hole you had a fantastic shot and had placed your tee at a specific height to help ensure accuracy. Now you are onto the next hole and cannot remember where you placed your tee the last time, knowing that it helped contribute to your birdie on the previous hole. So the question then becomes how to solve this problem.

Striping systems on tees have been around for years with the obvious idea behind them being able to place your tee at the same height each time you tee off. Zero Friction took the idea of a traditional three line striped tee to the next level with the ZFT System. This innovative product combines the performance aspect of a traditional Zero Friction tee and adds the tradition of the stripe height system, thus "Technology Meets Tradition."

Also, for those more traditional golfers, the ZFT System is not just available in the bio-composite materials; it is also made in 100 percent bamboo, creating an eco friendly tee. To keep it simple, the striping system is color coded so that you know when you pick your product you know what size tee you are getting. In the bamboo ZFT System, the 2 1/8" has a gray stripe, 2 ¾" red, 3 ¼" black and 4" yellow. The bio-composite system keeps the consistency with the 2 ¾" in red and 3 ¼" in black. This tee not only helps to solve the challenge of where to place your tee in the ground every time, but also helps to increate performance with the 3-prong design that allows for 50 percent less dispersion. As a bonus in every package you receive another great height tee, the Lock n Drive.

The Lock n Drive was created as a great multi product in two sizes, 2 ¾" and 3 ¼". Along the shaft of the golf tee, the Lock n Drive has settings (6 for 2 ¾" and 8 for 3 ¼") that allow you to place a stopper at the height that you would like to place your tee at every time. As an additional benefit the stopper acts as a ball marker on the greens. The Lock n Drive is a great teaching product, as it is three products in one. Performance Cup, adjustable height, and ball marker all combined in a single tee. No other product on the market offers such features.

The best part of the Lock n Drive is that one is being included in every package of Zero Friction tees in 2011.

So remember, when tee height is a question, choose the Zero Friction ZFT System or the Zero Friction Lock n Drive for maximum performance.

(NASHPORT, Ohio) – Longaberger Golf Club, made the most dramatic climb of any course in Golf Digest’s biennial “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses” list, catapulting from 98th to 56th in the 2011-2012 national rankings.

Managed by Billy Casper Golf, Longaberger was the only course in Ohio on the 100 Greatest Public Courses list, holding a longstanding top position in the state. The complete list appears in the May 2011 edition of the publication, released this week.

“We are gratified that Golf Digest raters judged Longaberger one of the best courses in the country,” says Danny Ackerman, general manager of Longaberger Golf Club. “We pride ourselves on offering a challenging, beautiful, fair and fun golf course, a welcoming experience – on and off the course – and delivering exceptional customer service.”

This honor is one of many accolades awarded the course since opening in 1999. The Arthur Hills layout, located less than an hour from Columbus, was also named to Golfweek’s “2011 Best Courses You Can Play” list released in March.

It was named best golf course in Ohio on the publication’s state-by-state listing, a position it has retained for several years.

In late 2010, Golf Magazine noted Longaberger as “Worth Your Money” in its annual national Top 100 course ranking.

Greens fees are $64 through mid-May; stay-and-play rates start at $163 per person with two rounds and an overnight stay.

Miura Golf Introduces Passing Point 9003 (PP-9003) Forged Cavity-Back Irons

(Vancouver, British Columbia/Himeji, Japan) - Japanese golf-club manufacturer Miura Golf-which has been making the world's highest-quality forged irons for 44 years-is officially introducing its Passing Point 9003 forged cavity-back irons.

The Passing Point concept is Miura's recognition of golfers' lifelong steps to improvement. While there is a passing point when you pass from acquaintance to friend, from novice to serious student, from casual golfer to committed competitor, golf clubs can also have a passing point. When clubs are taken to a new level, they become more than just 14 tools in a bag. They become friends in their own right.

In the Miura tradition of melding functional golf design with an artistic eye, Miura crafted a wider sole to help with effective turf interaction. Yet the sole takes an elegant shape that doesn't look oversized. Likewise, the offset is designed to flow naturally into the clubhead to preserve a confident look at address, but still benefit players who need some help squaring the clubface at impact.

The cavity has been carefully designed to assign just the right amount of weight to the most effective places in the head. The thoroughly researched and tested PP-9003 design places the center of gravity low for a high, soft-landing flight that still holds its line and never balloons. And as with all Miura clubs, the weight and balance are obsessively consistent throughout the set.

The worldwide introduction of the Passing Point 9003 or (PP-9003) irons was April 1. The launch is exciting news for golfers, as Miura Golf-which has never had a fixed time frame for new-product introductions-only debuts new models when the quality of new technological advances demands it.

The PP-9003 is available in a 4-iron through pitching wedge set (plus gap wedge) in right-hand only. The PP-9003 can be tested by visiting www.miuragolf.com to locate the closest Miura dealer. Pricing begins at $225 per iron.

Miura is a family company, and the development of this club brought out the best in two generations of Miura expertise. Company founder and chairman Katsuhiro Miura worked with his sons, Yoshitaka and Shinei, to make a "friendly" golf club. Together, they created a club of surpassing utility, ease of play and, yes, friendliness. The PP-9003-with its wider sole, higher launch angle and perfect amount of offset-is designed for all levels of players, but seniors, women and high-handicappers will particularly benefit from the iron's performance characteristics.

The friendly PP-9003 irons are easier to address with confidence; they promote well-balanced ball trajectory in terms of distance, direction and height; and there's no variance in shape, weight or balance between each club in the set, which provides golfers with confidence.

"The PP-9003 irons are not only aesthetically pleasing, but the incredible technology will help golfers of all handicap levels get the most out of their games," says Adam Barr, president of Miura Golf. "We are confident golfers will fall in love with the PP-9003 irons, especially after they see their games improve."

Positioned as a stepping stone to the Miura clubs intended for better players, Passing Point is Miura's way of reaching out to all golfers. Anyone who plays the game deserves a great forged club-and Passing Point is the newest place to begin that eternal journey towards golf excellence.

"Mr. Miura, Yoshitaka and Shinei have created another superb addition to the Miura club line with the Passing Point 9003 irons," says Bill Holowaty, Executive VP - Product Strategies for Miura Golf in North America. "The PP-9003 irons feature timeless Miura styling and peerless Miura performance, and if you think the visual impact is strong, wait until you hit it."

Why a Performance Tee is Crucial: Part 2

ZFX - The 4 Prong Ultra Performance Tee

(Oakbrook Terrace, IL) - One of the first questions Zero Friction is asked when introducing the ZFX is "Why did you create a 4-prong golf tee?" The answer really is quite simple. Zero Friction is dedicated to creating high quality, performance products with innovative technological advancements, so why not create a high performance 4-prong golf tee? The other reason why we created the ZFX is that it is slightly easier to place the ball on the tee with the added stability of four prongs.

The second question we are usually asked is why are the prongs facing the way that they are? That answer is also quite straightforward. The patented 4-prong design is very similar to the original 3-prong ZF golf tee, in that its unique blueprint reduces the contact area between the ball and tee by 66 percent, which ultimately leads to longer straighter drives. The only way to achieve the 66 percent less coverage was to place the prongs in this way to upkeep the performance.

Once again, similar to the ZF there are a few tricks to having the ZFX perform at its best. First, for optimum performance, point the prongs outwards of the target; by doing this, you are allowing for nearly 50 percent of the ball to hang in midair, allowing for the most club to ball contact as possible, leading to a longer drive.

Second, if you have trouble placing your ball on either the Zero Friction Original 3-Prong Golf Tee or the ZFX 4-Prong Golf tee, there's a simple explanation to help. If your ball falls off, your tee is not straight. The only way both the ZFX and ZF are completely effective is if the tee is placed straight in the ground, due to the design of both products it ensures that this is the case because if not straight the ball falls off. Compared to a standard cup or other performance tees, if the tee is not straight, the ball is still able to nestle in the cup, keeping it on the tee. This creates more dispersion and less distance off the tee.

The ZFX is available in 2 ¾" and 3 ¼" sizes in four colors: lemon-lime, magenta, citrus orange and white. Each size and color offers the superior performance of the Zero Friction™ brand.
Next time you head out to play a round, choose a Zero Friction Tee for the best performance and allow your golf tee to help improve your game.

The only question left is what tee will you choose the ZF 3-Prong or the ZFX 4-Prong?

Keep up to date with Zero Friction by reading Part Three of the series: Why a Performance Tee is Crucial later this week.

Why A Performance Tee Is Crucial: Part 1

This is Part 1 of a series from Zero Friction

(Oakbrook Terrace, IL) - With the dawn of the golf season on the horizon, consumers will be out and about getting ready to hit the greens. While some golfers have already been out this year, the majority are getting ready to stock up on their essential golf gear. It is for that reason, the ever important golf tee is crucial. The golf tee is no longer viewed as a small part of the game; rather consumers are finding it's an essential part which can make or break their game.

Some may wonder, what is the advantage of a performance golf tee over a standard cup, is it just another product that is here that doesn't really help my game, or is legitimate?

Well, the answer to these questions is simple. The Zero Friction performance golf tee is the only tee in the marketplace that actually can help improve your game. In laboratory test results, the Zero Friction tee outperforms standard cup and other performance golf tees by staggering results.

The reason for the improvement in your game with Zero Friction is due to its unique design which reduces contact area between the ball and tee. The patented three prong design allows for 66 percent less surface coverage between the ball and tee, which ultimately leads to longer, straighter drives.

Now the key to this is to place one prong towards the target. Why, you may ask? First, this gets you thinking in the direction of your shot. Also, if you take a look at the ball sitting on top of the tee, with one prong towards the target, 50 percent of the ball is nearly hanging in midair. This allows for the most club to ball contact as possible, leading to a longer drive. At the moment of impact the ball is completely off the tee, which reduces dispersion by 50 percent. Other tees create dispersion and drag due to the ball nestling in the cup. A Zero Friction tee equates to hitting the ball on the sweet spot like a "flyer lie" every time!

Each week, the Zero Friction Performance Golf Tees make their way onto the PGA TOUR, not just in one color, size or product style, but in four sizes and three product styles, all which offer superior performance. To date, Zero Friction has more than 352 Top 10 finishes and 62 tour victories.

The performance tee is the next tee in golf, but yet it is so rarely thought about, which is why Zero Friction came on the market in 2005, to change that. Next time you make it to the course choose a Zero Friction Tee for the best in performance.

Allen Edmonds Honors Collection golf shoes features QR technology

The new Allen Edmonds Honors Collection golf shoes features QR code technology on hang tags that can access a special video showcasing the new line's fine craftsmanship process, Ben Crenshaw's commentary about the Honors Collection and the line's five shoe styles.

Although initially used for tracking parts in vehicle manufacturing, QR codes are now used in a much broader context, including both commercial tracking applications and convenience-oriented applications aimed at mobile phone users (known as mobile tagging). QR codes storing addresses and URLs may appear in magazines, on signs, buses, business cards, or on just about any object about which users might need information.

Users with a camera phone equipped with the correct reader application can scan the image of the QR Code to display text, contact information, connect to a wireless network, or open a web page in the phone's browser. This act of linking from physical world objects is known as a hardlink or physical world hyperlinks.

"This technology allows us to show and tell the Allen Edmonds' story of commitment to preeminent craftsmanship, quality materials and special engineering of our golf shoe," says Colin Hall, Chief Marketing Officer of Allen Edmonds. "We think we are the first shoe company to give golfers this special behind the scenes look on our 212-step handcrafting process and the entire Honors Collection line through QR technology. And Ben Crenshaw's role in this video adds to its appeal and demonstrates his dedication to the brand."

Introduced in January at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show, the Honors Collection shoes brings almost a century of classic, handcrafted style, unrivaled comfort and time-tested performance to the sport of golf.
The shoes are made in the USA, using 360-degree Goodyear welted construction for greater stability while maintaining flexibility. They feature the finest premium leathers and performance system featuring specially engineered designs including a soft layer of cork between the insole and outsole for custom-like orthotic comfort as only Allen Edmonds can do. The Honors Collection features five new styles specific to golf, each suited to distinct performance and styling.

Every shoe in the Honors Collection comes in multiple widths. So like the finest golf clubs, a golfer can now get golf shoes that feel custom fitted. Like the company's world-renowned dress shoes, Allen Edmonds golf shoes will be available for their legendary Allen Edmonds' Recrafting services. In 2010, Allen Edmonds recrafted 60,000 pairs of shoes, making it the world's largest cobbler.
