Gulf Shores Golf Courses Reopen after Rain Impact from T.S. Lee

(GULF SHORES, ALABAMA) – Gulf Shores’ beaches and golf courses greatly anticipate a sunny, cool and clear 10-day forecast, following Tropical Storm Lee’s rain impact to the Gulf Coast this past Labor Day weekend.

The southern Alabama destination woke to sunshine Tuesday, and its nine golf courses (www.golfgulfshores.com) have reopened for play. With quick-draining sandy soil, courses are anticipated to enact a 90-degree or cart-path-only rule until mid-week. Clear days with unseasonably mild 80-degree weather dominate the week’s forecast.

“Several golf courses were happy to refill their retention ponds following a spring rainfall deficit,” said Duncan Millar, executive director of the Gulf Shores Golf Association. “As we enter into favorable fall weather and an attractive rate season, we look forward to a busy fall.”

Stay-and-play rates start at $73 per person per night this fall for golf and accommodations in a Gulf-front condominium. Sample rates and a customized package builder can be found at www.golfgulfshores.com.

The region’s 32-mile stretch of beach along the Gulf Coast looks forward to its annual Thunder in the Gulf high-speed boat race and the 40th Anniversary of its Shrimp Festival in early October, among other regional events.

Golf Gulf Shores offers daily reports of weather, activities, events and special rates through its Facebook page, including regular beach reports, at (www.facebook.com/golfgulfshores).
